Cultura Tres: Rezando al miedo
11/08/13 || gk
Cultura Tres’s last album, “El Mal del Bein”, promised a fair bit but was let down by being over long and inconsistent in songwriting. The follow up and new album “Rezando Al Miedo” is a good deal better and quite a solid outing that mixes sludge with noise rock and sounds a whole lot more focused. The band again mixes the sludge with some 90’s grunge but what gives the music its edge is the angular, dissonant riffs and a solid vocal performance. “Es Mi Sangre” is a case in point. Starting with random distorted guitar notes slowly building on top of one another to create momentum, the song is slow and measured conjuring a pretty cool atmosphere till the lead guitar break injects some energy.
This is overall an album that is quite superior to its predecessor in terms of songwriting and if you thought the last album was pretty good then check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.
8/10: Cultura Tres are on to something here.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
